This is Elise during her car seat check. It is a requirement for all NICU babies before they can go home. She had to stay in it for the time it would take to get home, which is 3 hours. She slept the whole time after an initial crying fit. It was weird to see her in it, we wanted to just pick her up in it and take her home.
Here's Elise during some tummy time action. She is tolerating it better, only crying towards the end. And she is actually starting to pick her head up using her arms and not her back like before.
Here are some picks of her on her playmat. She was pretty happy, then fell asleep.
Elise had a good weekend. She is almost taking her full bottles during the day. Now they aren't the full amount of milk she needs for the day, but we are giving the rest of that through the NG at night. We are trying to build her back up to what she should be taking, then we will be able to remove the NG tube. They tried to decrease her Zofran (the medicine that keeps her tummy from being upset) but she started to not tolerate her feeds again, and her vomiting increased. So she is back on it every 4 hours before meals. The doctors increased her Flolan today up to 21, and will continue to increase it every Monday and Thursday. She is starting to mimic sounds when you talk to her. It was pretty funny Friday night I had her trying to mimic a laugh, and she was doing a pretty good job. And the next day she was trying to do it again, but couldn't quite remember how. Jason and I are in Springfield now, and will return Wed. afternoon. So, we will post then from St. Louis. Jason, Kristin & Miss Elise, How good to see this blog! We will remain optimistic and confident that Elise will be headed home in the near future. Be safe in your travels and we'll catch you soon. We're headed to Austin for Kath & Cliff's wedding this week-end. We'll be thinking of you and will send pictures 'soon.' Maybe Elise can sing a little love song for them? Love, Sam & Jane
It sure is good to see Elise sitting in that carseat! Hopefully you can actually hook that carseat up to one of your cars someday soon! :-)
