We went on a sunset walk down St. Pete beach last week. We are in front of the Don Cesar hotel. It is a very famous fancy hotel. She likes to walk around the house on Dad's shoulders. She lean over and try to look at his face, it is too cute. And sometimes she grabs his face to hold on. Also funny. This is Elise on a scooter that Mara gave her. She was so cute this day. She would come up the hall to me, and then as quick as she could go backwards. She thought it was so funny! This is Elise's new smile. She bats her eyes like she's flirting. Just like her surprised face, we have no idea where she learned it. . She met her new pediatrician last Wed. and got her Flu shot. She'll get the H1N1 vaccine once it arrives at the clinic. She also had a swallow study done on Friday at the children's hospital here. It's a moving xray that shows her swallowing. The trick was getting her to put something in her mouth. We finally did get some good pictures that helped the her new speech therapy group to evaluate her. She has qualified for some pretty intensive speech therapy. They want to start out seeing her twice a week, progressing to more if needed. We will have to go to the hospital for the sessions, but I am hopeful that they will make some progress with her. The chilren's hospital here in St. Petersburg has a swallowing clinic called Happy Meals. It is a four week outpatient clinic for kids with oral aversion. There is a year long waiting list, but they think they should be able to get her in by spring. So, until then, she is going to have a speech therapist that also works at this swallow clinic. So, I'm hoping that this therapist can apply some of the techniques from the clinic to Elise before she gets into the clinic. . We went to the dog beach again this weekend, and almost got blown away by a storm. We had to hold down our tent as it buckled under the wind and rain. We ended up running to the truck with all the dogs and Elise soaking wet and covered in sand. What a mess. We are really excited to see Grandma and Grandpa Drennan when they arrive tomorrow night. We should have some good pics of the visit for next weeks blog. Hope you all have a great week! Love, Kristin
